The SO-101 is an open-source desktop robot arm with 5 DOF and a parallel gripper, built on the open SO-ARM100/SO-101 design and compatible with Hugging Face LeRobot. Hashtag Robotics ships it leader + follower together, assembled and tested, so you skip kit assembly and start running code on day one. It is on free pre-order now, with no payment collected.

Most open-source arms reach you as a kit: a bag of parts, printed components and an assembly guide that can take days to work through. We took a different path. Every SO-101 leaves us fully built, calibrated and tested, so the time you would have spent assembling goes straight into your actual robotics and AI work.

The platform pairs an operator-guided leader arm with a task-performing follower arm. You move the leader by hand and the follower mirrors it one to one, which is exactly the setup teleoperation, data collection and imitation learning workflows are built around.

The follower is the arm that performs the tasks. The leader is the operator-guided controller arm; it mirrors its motion onto the follower one to one, enabling teleoperation and data collection. The SO-101 pre-order includes both together.
